Soft pull for apple card application

I've read all over the interwebs about applying for the apple card with only a soft pull to your credit report. Once approved, the hard pull only gets noted if you accept.

Does anyone know how to accomplish this? To apply without the immediate hard pull?

Thanks.

You would apply using your iPhone - Wallet App, email invitation from Apple, or go to the Apple Store app on your iPhone and put an item in the basket and start checkout.

When you apply, Goldman Sachs will do a soft pull from Transunion and give you a credit line and APR rate.

If you accept, they will do a hard pull.

Obviously if you are denied credit, there is no option to do a hard pull.
