Problems transferring photos onto an idiskk flash drive

Hi

I’m trying to create some space on my iPhone by putting photos onto a idiskk flash drive

I did create a folder on the flash drive and moved some photos to it, I can’t see the photos so I’m thinking I need to format it but the flash drive says formatting will erase all data on the device, what does that mean ?
