Locked Pages Document on iPad Does Not Open With Keychain

Hello, am new to Apple ecosystem, have iPad 8th Gen, running padOS 14.4.2.

A Pages document on iCloud that is password protected with a password I added to the keychain; all that done from the iMac.

I activated keychain on the iPad (settings > myID > iCloud > Keychain (set to on) .

However, when I attempt to open the document on the iPad, I still need to manually enter the document password. When attempted on the iMac, the document opens without me entering the password - am assuming keychain is doing that for me.

Thanks in advance for any help.

iOS/iPadOS Keychain credentials are essentially for websites and online services. Password input for individual documents is seemingly not supported. Keychain functionality for macOS is considerably more flexible.

Apple do invite constructive feedback and feature requests via their product feedback pages. This may be an ideal candidate for a feature request…
