suddenly my contacts are not there on my MacBook when they were synced before - I have them on my phone and iPad though

all of a sudden I don't have my contacts synced on my MacBook. They are on my phone and iPad. The toggle for contacts is set to sync in the settings. Not sure what to do. I am running 11.0.1. and will run software update tonight.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Try going to System Preferences/iCloud (Apple ID for Catalina or later) and stop syncing by unchecking the box. Wait a couple of minutes, then check syncing. Allow time for the sync to complete

Last resort  - have you tried signing out of iCloud, restarting, and then sign back in?
