My iPhone won't turn on after getting wet

My 2 year put my phone under the faucet with running water for a few seconds. My eldest daughter thought it was water proof and laughed at my worried reaction. Then phone was acting up as it should. I suppose since it’s only water resistant. Mentioned this to my sister Andy she suggested doing a hard reset. Whatever that means. Basically just witnessed her power it off. Shortly after this my phone looked to be powering on. The apple logo turns on and screen quickly just blanks out. It won’t stop doing this. Glitching endlessly. Before hard reset my sister conducted. I could still use basic phone operating options. Like placing a call, texts, podcast. However my Face ID wasn’t working. Otherwise it was fine. But now it won’t even turn on properly. The only other icon I’ve read is connect to to a computer. Sadly my dinosaur of a desk top recently took its final run. I have no computer. Is there any other thing I could do? Let it die? Hate to buy a new phone when what I really need is a computer or laptop.

I am notorious for dropping my cell phone and it submerged in water ..

and I’ve been lucky ...

your phone is not going to come on .. and right now you DO NOT want it to come on.. pray your power is off on the phone ...

this is what I do ... and it has worked ..

but you must be patient ...

if you have any tape cover the charge port with a piece of tape.

If u have a sewing needle you can place a couple of tiny holes in the tape... (( this is to prevent anything getting into the charge port that you may have trouble to get out ...

1 . Some stores will have a kit to place the phone in to draw out moisture ..

—— if you aren’t familiar with one of those ( I’ve only seen them at some targets and Walmart’s

your other option is DRY RICE...

place the DRY UNCOOKED RICE in a ZIPLOCK bag. - fill up enuff to cover the phone on both sides..

( I like putting the rice in the microwave WITH OUT the phone .. for about 15 seconds ..). This warms the rice up and in my experience helps speed up the process .....

2) place the phone in the rice .. so it’s submerged in the rice

3). Try to remove as much air from the zip lock bag .. and seal it shut..

4). If you have a window that gets good light.. you can place the phone there to help with the warmth to continue pulling moisture out !

give it time .. I suggest at least 24 hours // depending how much water the phone got ...

one time my phone fell in the tub .. totally submerged ..

I powered it off ASAP ... placed it in rice .. after 2 days I heard the phone ding when I received a text message .. but the screen was dark ..

I had already had purchased another phone by then ..

on the 5th day .. the entire phone came back to life !!

the KEY(s) to reviving the phone is POWERING OFF AS SOON AS IT GETS WET AND LEAVING IT OFF

&

patients

you do NOT want the power the phone on if it’s still wet inside ... you can short out the mother board

you can tell slightly if there is moisture still in the phone if the phone feels colder than usual ...

I really hopes this helps ... I’ve been thru it so many times .. and the ONLY phone that I didn’t get to work again was one that I did not power off !!

I lost the screen first before the entire phone died and shorted out .. after that it was just parts

good luck and I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.. I’ll check back later to see if you have any questions .. ( & see what sort of criticism others may have.. lol). But idk cuz I have revived 5 phones that way !!

now I have the 7 plus .. I only go with water proof phones .., lol.. I’m rooting for ya!!

Do not do a HARD RESET .., Especially in its condition !!

a soft reset won’t help either that is when you are having other issues ..,

it sounds like you have moisture in the phone and it’s trying to work .. but STOP trying to turn it on ... KEEP IT POWERED OFF !!

I would agree with the other comment left here... but when we are light on funds .. and DIY is your best option.. try my way as I left in the other comment I left... what’s the worse that can happen?

but KEEP IT POWERED OFF ..

I would tell you to call me so I could help but I don’t know if that is allowed here! Me - H2O - my iPhones .. have had many lives !!!
