For Apple TV (4th generation or later):

The device name can be set in

Settings﹥General﹥About﹥Name﹥

or

Settings﹥AirPlay and HomeKit﹥Name﹥

Changing one will be for both settings.

As AirPlay and HomeKit have both a name and a room designation, it makes sense to name a device differently than its room, but you are free to name it anything you want.
