iPhone XS - How to stop the music app from taking over the phone?

I have an iPhone XS that I use with hearing aids with, using Bluetooth and the hearing aid app to control the hearing aids. The hearing aids play the iPhone announcement dings, pings, and rings, so that I now I have messages or phone calls.

The problem is that the music app always comes up and tries to play music without being opened. I have tried to close all apps, restart the phone, etc., however, the music app is persistent and keeps coming up automatically.

Is there any way to turn this "feature" off? I would still like to be able to use the music app, but only when I want it, not every time the phone decides it wants to play.

Hi JGreg7,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

We see that you are having an issue with music app starting automatically while connected via Bluetooth to your hearing aids. We want to help. Have you tried restarting and checking again? If not, here's how Restart your iPhone

If a restart doesn't help, is your iPhone updated? It's a good idea to back up your iPhone before updating.

Restarting has no effect.

The problem has been occurring for months now through several phone updates, including the latest one. This would seem to indicate that this (automatic music play) is an intended feature that has been designed into the phone, rather than an anomaly.

I would assume that the designers would have included a switch for this functionality, or some other way to disable it.

As a side note: I also use the iphone in my car for CarPlay, using a cable connection. The music also always starts playing then as well.

I like the music app, just not all the time.
