Pages saves duplicates automatically

I have a problem. Pages saves files in duplicates without me wanting it! How can I stop the duplicating?

It is essential that you save your Pages document at least once, and preferably before you enter any content. You can invoke that save operation with a command+S shortcut. That will also trigger autosave as you add content, and then it is purely optional if you press command+S to save when you are done.

However, pressing shift+command+S will always duplicate the current document, so avoid that keyboard shortcut to stop duplicating documents.
