When I send an Imessage, the contact person's name and photo are in the banner at the top.
What do the different backgroud colors of the banner mean? Most times it's light blue, sometimes light grey, and today it was Pink, I have never seen that before. What do thedifferent colors mean?

I suspect that all you are seeing are the colors of previous messages as "fuzzy & blurred " images underneath the banner. Try scrolling the message chain up & down and see if the color changes with the message bubble underneath the banner.
