Hi,
To begin with, it may not be a bad idea to reset the printing system.

The Dec 11, 2020 HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for macOS download from Apple (https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US) has in some earlier cases worked better than other files. You could perhaps try this one. Once installed, look for something like an HP LaserJet Professional M1210nf MFP Series driver.

I think the issue is that my Mac is macOS Big Sur 11.3.1. I found a os 11.3 driver but I don't think that is the correct driver for the version and I can't see one saying its for Mac OS Big Sur 11.3.1. its an old printer so I'm hoping that does not have anything to do with it.
Ive downloaded it but when I go to settings +add printer and find the printer it says there is no available software.
it's a dmg so did you install it?
