Given tablet

My issue is someone gave me a tablet. They told me the battery was dead. I had it sitting for a while so I decided to plug it in. Almost 3 days had gone by and it turned on. With this new found info. I had switched jobs and tracked down the owner. I asked them if they would like it back. In which we started making plans to return it. I have been trying to either return or have them unlock it from their apple account. It’s such a waste and can probably be used on both sides. The other party just doesn’t seem interested. And the unit is about to go in the trash. Is it possible to que the original owner some how? I think she’s lazy and wouldn’t go through the trouble of signing in and unlocking it for me. I have asked for an address and offered to ship it. I am just bummed out it’s sitting here.

There's nothing you can do really unless you can get her to unlock it.

Maybe she need help dealing with a lost Apple ID or password?

Apple can completely reset a device if a person can provide sufficient evidence of valid ownership. Do this online at: Activation Lock support request - https://al-support.apple.com/#/additional-support Apple says, "Proof of ownership documentation is required," but does not state what currently constitutes proof. Prior to this new online service Apple typically required the original receipt issued by an Apple Authorized dealer and documented provenance (so typically it would be the original owner who does this, or a descendant with legal proof of ownership).
