Yes, they seem to be iMessage. I have begun reporting them to Verizon, but since I started, they only seem to have increased in number. I also "block" them, but then then they change numbers, just as others have said. If I could just "silence unknown texters" I'd be happy. Thanks!

Thanks...Yes, I've had them Filtered out, and I appreciate knowing now that links can't be inadvertently opened. I'd just don't want to be notified that these messages came in....just like Apple has done with "silence unknown callers".
Filter iMessage messages from unknown senders
Filtering messages from unknown senders turns off iMessage notifications from senders who aren’t in your contacts and sorts the messages into the Unknown Senders tab in the Messages list.
You can go to Settings>Messages and set Filter Unknown Senders. However, I'm not sure if that disables the notification. If these are text messages and not iMessage, you can contact your carrier to see what they have for blocking spam texts.
Thanks, and I've done that, but the notifications continue. I've sent them to my carrier, too and block them, but they keep coming.
Are these SMS messages versus iMessage? If they are, what does the carrier provide for spam text messages? With my carrier (AT&T) I very rarely see a spam text. Maybe one every couple of months.
