Restoring messages without Icloud backup

My mother tried to delete a photo from a text chain with my sister. In doing so she accidentally deleted all there texts. She does not have Icloud backup on but it says in apps using Icloud messages are there. Is there any way to get them back from here?

She is syncing her Messages with iCloud. There is no backup as all deletions are synced in real time to all devices.

This is why deleting a message requires 2 taps.

Your question was answered.

You came back not to acknowledge the answer, but to explain how your mother's poor eye sight should somewhat change the answer I gave you. Then you said the system is stupid. Thus the link to tell Apple how you feel.

I tap out at that point. I did not design the feature. I am not Apple and while I am empathetic that she has lost messages, I can'r change that reality.

So again, if she uses Messages in iCloud, and she does, and she deleted Messages in the Messages app by accident or purposely, they are gone. Telling you about the steps to delete may help you educate her so this does not happen to her again.

Photos are stored elsewhere on iCloud. If any of her messages have a photo in them, they are not visible outside of that message.

If she saved a photo from a message, that photo would now be in the Photo Library.

Where are you seeing that iCloud has photos?

iCloud is not a single place. There are several unique services and features delivered by iCloud.

Messages in iCloud is "invisible" in that you can't access messages being synced by iCloud. In contrast, the iCloud Photo Library is fully visible using the Photos icon on iCloud.com or the photo app on your iOS or macOS device.

What I failed to articulate maybe was the fact that Icloud still shows it has her photos. What I later found out from some of what you said was it holds it there to share to her other devices. What I replied to you apple or not was my displeasure in it “still existing” as it still shows in there, but it is not accessible. Also if you felt I bestowed upon you any ill will foe your reply I apologize, I simply was voicing my frustration with it. In the meantime, I took her Ipad off cellular and wifi then looked at her messages on the Ipad and it still shows my sisters text messages there. So if you or anyone else knows of any way to get the Ipad text messages back over to her phone that would be most helpful.
