Why is other taking up my whole device space?
After deleting a whole lot from my device I discovered other still takes up almost the whole device storage space, why?

You cannot manage that category on Mac OS as the system manages it. The amount will fluctuate and include Time Machine backup snapshots.
By the way, your post should be in theMac OS forums as it very much different from iOS.
