AppleTV Play/Pause function only works in top menus but not when streaming when using URC MX-890 remote

Following up on the linked question - I don't believe this is necessarily an issue specifically with the programming of the URC MX-890 universal remote: The issue appears to be that Select/Pause/Play are programmed correctly and act correctly at the top menus UNTIL an actual program begins streaming (including AppleTV+, Netflix, Hulu streams, etc.) So I don't believe URC necessarily would have any fix for this as the buttons are programmed accurately, it is just that the Apple TV 4K OS is not recognizing them throughout all levels of the tvOS, (is my guess, after much experimenting.)

In other words: The remote is programmed properly. Using the Select/Play/Pause will all take you to the next deeper menu choice until content begins streaming. It is only when the streaming actually starts that somehow those Play/Pause functions are then disabled (i.e. will not Pause/Play the content.)

Is there any AppleTV setting that allows the Play/Pause functionality to still work when streaming is actually occurring (i.e. to Pause the content and unpause it via Play)? Thank you.

Play/Pause is for pausing VOD content, and resuming some time later.

To start a stream, use Select instead (confirm a highlighted on-screen play button or episode tile). The Play/Pause button may not work in all interfaces for that.
