I want to be able to have a. flash drive work with both a PC and Mac. I intend to exchange files from a PC to a Mac via flash drive? Can a flash drive be formatted this way? Do you have any suggestions as to how I might do the transfer?

Format it to FAT. Note there are file size limits.

- Choose the appropriate system version to get the correct document
Fat32 is safest, but has limits. (4GB maximum file size, 32GB or 2TB max device size depending on operating system)
ExFat is the new improved standard that is supposed to offer cross-platform compatibility, but I've occasionally had issues with flash drives reformatted as exFat by MacOS not getting recognized by Windows 7.

How exactly do I format the flash drive? I am assuming I go to "disk utility" and select it.......I expect I'll click "erase".....will I get a box giving me an option to select FAT32?
