Can a T3 cable be used on the new M1 Mac mini T4 ports?
Can a T3 cable be used on the new M1 Mac mini T4 ports?
The mini’s ports are T3 not T4, so yes.
No, USB4 is a separate interface but uses the same connector (called USB-C) as T3. USB4 is also brand new; monitors & devices supporting the interface aren’t out yet and won’t be until at least the end of the year. In any case, USB4 is downward compatible with lower versions of USB. What are you looking to connect?
Cool. Be sure to keep Sleep disabled by checking “Prevent…” under Energy Preferences. It’s not connected to switching off the monitor on timer, so no worries that’ll still work.
The ports are labeled as Thunderbolt / USB4 in the graphics for the M1... so USB4 is T3?
Recently bought a new M1 mini and display to replace my very old iMac so also purchased a T3 cable... sounds like I’m good to go.
Thank you.
👍You’re welcome.
