Safari taking up too much space.

When I browse the web with Safari, it starts writing to my disk. It stops if Safari is inactive. When I restart, the disk space is back to normal. I ran the Activity monitor and found "com.apple.StreamingUnzipService" writing 6GB on my disk for the last session I had on safari, and I all I did was browse a few forums looking for an answer to this query.

computer : MBP 13 mid2014

OS : Big Sur

I don't want to have to restart my laptop every 30 mins because of this. I'm looking for a way to stop this or soon I might change to a different browser altogether.

Go step by step and test.

1. Update Safari, if an update is available. Update may come with bug fixes.

2. Quit Safari, launch Safari holding the Shift key down.

Please read the article before clearing history,

this is like a low level resetting of Safari without affecting passwords and bookmarks.

When we browse with any browser, the history of the web sites we've visited is stored in RAM (memory). Normally, this should not be problematic. it is a simple manner to clear Safari's memory by going to the History menu and clicking on the Clear History link at the bottom of the menu.
