Copy multiple (text) items

Hi there

On my old Mac I had the option to mark/copy multiple text items that are not next to each other by holding down Command when marking. An example:

• I want to mark/copy this text line

-But not this text line

• And then also mark/copy this text line

However this is not working on my new Macbook from 2020. Does anyone how to get this back?
