Hi, there is line next to battery icon/ WiFi icon on the Lock Screen(I have highlighted it in green)… it only started appearing today

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities. We understand that you are having trouble understanding the bar located beneath the battery/wifi/network symbol. We would love to provide support on this.

***The bar that shows in your screen shot that is directly beneath the battery icon is showing you that you can drag that area down to have quick access to shortcuts. If you lace your finger on it and drag it down you will see available options for some settings.

***This bar should be recognized as a shortcut to access some available settings just like the same line you see at the bottom of the screen that allows you to access other available screens.

Currently there isn't a way to remove this feature as it is considered a helpful tool.
