How do you export a 2 bar midi file???

How do you export a 2 bar midi file???

This is very simple with an audio file/region. You separate the two bars, select it, and then hit “File/Export/1 Region as an audio file”. Bam!!! You have a 2 bar audio file which will open in any other application.

However, this doesn’t seem to work with a Midi file. If I select the midi (Figure 1) and then hit “File/Export/Selection as a Midi file” it creates a Midi file, but it also includes blank data on both sides when opened in any other application (See Figure 2 & 3). However if I open it back in Logic it appears as a 2 bar midi file.

Next, I tried moving the midi to the start of the session within Logic and did another “File/Export/Selection as a Midi file”. This resulted in the Midi being at the start of the file, but included a massive blank region after the Midi notes. (See Figure 6).

So my question is this… Is there a way to export a Midi file that is only 2 measures (or whatever I select) and have it appear exactly the same in other applications?

Thanks for your help!!

Gary
