MacBook Pro internal microphone not working for zoom

Internal microphone does not work for Siri/zoom, but works on FaceTime interestingly. It is three years old. Interestingly took it to Apple, they suggested a new microphone fo $600. Reset everything including SMC etc. Finally I stuck an actual 3.5mm headphone in the jack. Not really sure it was related to that. Started working again. Now two weeks later it is out again. I really think it is a hardware thing...anyone else have any ideas?

Hi Nick,

Welcome to the Apple Community, where some of us do our best to help each other.

Sometimes it is something simple ...

Eg : Wondering if you have checked the privacy settings ...

Click the Apple icon on the left of the top menu bar.
Choose "System Preferences"
Click "Security and Privacy" icon
Scroll to click Microphone in the left column.
Click to tick checkbox to allow Zoom to use the microphone.
