When I plug my phone up to Apple carplay I’ll open the music app on my phone but when I press the music app on my car screen it crashes and closes the app on my phone as well on apple Carplay and it’s only doing this with the music app. Anyone know why and how to fix this?

We have the same issue on BOTH of our vehicles. Since we upgraded to iOS 14.5.1 we can’t get the music app to open when connected to CarPlay.
If we turn off data connections (cellphone and Wi-fi) it works. Not ideal
Try the following workaround:
Connect the iPhone to CarPlay with flight mode activated. In this context, make sure that there is no connection to the Internet via Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi is not automatically deactivated with flight mode; you have to do this separately.
Open Apple Music on CarPlay and then disconnect the iPhone again.
Now the flight mode can be deactivated again and Apple Music should work as usual.
I spent about 3 hours this morning trying to fix this issue and I finally did!! Try turning off your cellular data under your settings. Worked right away for me!
It worked! But now I can’t access Apple Music without a my data and I don’t have wifi in my car. I think Apple will have to do another software update to fix this.
The workarounds aren’t very convenient!
