When I start my car, the carplay screen doesn't come up most of the time. If it does, it will work for a few minutes, and then the screen goes black. Other times, the blue highlight will be frozen on one thing, and connot be moved. If I try to connect to carplay again, it shows my phone is connected, but none of the carplay apps will appear. This is happening in two different vehicles, 2021 Toyota 4Runner, and 2018 Audi Allroad. I don't see an error message, it just doesn't connect.

Hi leenet801,

Thanks for the information. There are some additional steps you can test as the issue occurs with two different vehicles. First, we'd recommend the firmware for each vehicle is full updated.

Additionally, based on how you connect ensure the steps from the article you started this post from below are tested in each vehicle.

  • If you have a wired connection, try connecting again with a different USB cable to a different USB port if you have one.
  • If you have a wireless connection, make sure that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled under Settings > Wi-Fi and Settings > Bluetooth.

You can also test by forgetting the Stereo name. Navigate to from Settings > General > CarPlay > [stereo name]. As well as forgetting the iPhone from the settings (refer to your stereo user guide for instructions)

Once forgotten, rename the iPhone in Settings > General > About > Name. Next, reset network settings on the iPhone. If needed, this article can assist: How to forget a Wi-Fi network on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac

Should the issues continue after completing the steps, reach out to Apple Support directly. Use the links below to get connected.

Hello leenet801,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're having an issue with CarPlay. We're happy to assist.

So we're sure of the issue, can you provide more information about what is happening with your iPhone and CarPlay? For example, is the Music app unexpectedly quitting or are you also having connectivity issues? If so, are you seeing an error when attempting to connect? Any details about what's occurring will help.

Cheers!

Sadly Carplay has a lot of problems. It's hard to find the cause because it's an interaction between Apple and the car manufactures. I have a Toyota RAV4 and the problems are numerous.

I was having similar problems, other iPhones could connect but mine wouldn’t. I tried every fix I read about to no avail. I finally figured out it wasn’t the car and had to be the phone. Checked all settings and seemed ok so thought it might be the network settings. I reset them and it worked! Don’t know how or why but it fixed the problem. Settings>general>reset> reset network settings. I didn’t lose any info just had to put in my WiFi info. Hope this helps!
