Beats Flex Won't Stay On All Day

Are Beats Flex supposed to completely shut off after a couple of hours of not being used? My fully charged pair keeps turning off (no white light) on their own about two hours after not taking a call or using them. It's annoying to have to power button cycle them on again when I go to answer a call and they've already turned off instead of just pulling the magnetic ear buds apart. Isn't that the whole point of this new design? Can't find any info about if this normal or if I just have a bad pair?
