Apps crashing after switching to new MacBook with less ram

Hi there,

I have used MacBook Pro early 2011 13’’ for a long time. I have upgraded it so it now has 16gb ram and 256 ssd. I now have MacBook Pro 2018 13’’ with 8gb ram and 250 flash storage.

I have transferred data from old to new mac with time machine and after that apps are crashing with messages like: Google Chrome quit unexpectedly... This happens with system apps also.

What could be the problem and do I need to upgrade new mac memory to in order to transfer data and all to work properly?

Thank you in advance

What was transferred - everything including Apple.? The MBP 2011 not doubt was running High Sierra at the most and the new MBP 2018 is running macOS ? If Catalina and above - Catalina and above Do Not Support anything 32 bit period. That is, Applications, Extensions and Drivers.

Something to investigte on your part.

Typically as you upgrade hardware you step up both Storage and RAM, not decrease capacity. This is the way it goes.

If your work flow is impacted return it.
