iPhone 12 HDR Rec.2020 HLG file - in SDR finalcut hdr vers rec.709 sdr

Hi!

how could I make the visibility better on Finalcut 10.4.5 with macosx 10.13.6

i want to use the iPhone 12 HDR Rec.2020 files, when I import I made a project with HDR Wide Gamut - Rec.2020 HLG

but on the Finalcut 10.4.5 I add also HDR tools - but it looks not good it is to light - what is the right settings to do to make it normal?

FCPX New Project HDR settings unavailable I have made the grievous error of setting my iPhone to HDR only to find that it turns using FCPX to edit it into a nightmare. (iMovie helpfully copes with HDR seamlessly.) I should like to set up a new project in FCPX with the HDR colour space so that it will import my iPhone HDR without making it look blown out. However the colour space popup in the new project dialog box (and also in the project properties settings) is greyed out. How can I get it working? (I do know that I can use HDR settings fx to deal with individual clips but this is causing huge problems with compositing, so I can see no alternative but to get HDR working properly protect-wide.)

Why doesn't Final Cut Pro X handle HDR video well by default? If I shoot HDR video on my iPhone 14 Pro, and play it in Quicktime Player, it looks fine. But Final Cut Pro X shows it all washed out. In order to get it to look reasonable, I have to go to HDR tools, fiddle manually with some stuff, and hope I'm doing it right. I haven't found a way to apply the changes to all of the clips at once. Hasn't Final Cut Pro X gotten the memo that iPhones are producing HDR video by default? Why doesn't it automatically detect that its HDR video and apply filters needed to make it look good by default; and then let pros do something fancy with it if they're purposely making an HDR video? I had to turn HDR video off on my iPhone because it was such a pain to work with. This seems to be a case of the iPhone and FCPX sides of Apple not communicating.

Exported wide-gamut project from wide-gamut library looks much different Hi Editing an HDR clip (not ProRes) from iPhone 13 in a wide-gamut project from a wide-gamut library, I came up with some looks I wanted to use. But when I exported the project there were big differences in the look. Codec: ProRes 422 Color Space: Wide-Gamut HDR - Rec. 2020 PQ Why is that and can I do anything about it? Re the 2 pics: The light is the Project look, the dark is the exported look. best elmer
