I have been missing calls because the ringer volume is very low. How can I keep the ringer volume up except when I turn it down with the switch? I don't want to turn down the volume with the volume buttons. I want them just for the speaker and headphones.

The switches are for all but what they control is based on your current activity. When the phone is inactive they control the ringer volume. See link:

I think I have been turning the volume with the buttons when I'm in a meeting. I should be using the switch to mute the phone. If I am not using the phone in an app which requires audio output, then when I press the down volume button repeatedly, I am turning down the ringer volume. I'll try to remember that. Thank you.
