Re-naming Account

Having migrated all my data to a new macbook Air, I'd like to let my son use my old one. If I re-name the account, will it affect my new laptop in any way?

How to setup new Mac with old account Just purchased a new MacBook and I want to set my old one up for the kids to use for school. I want to wipe it out & set it up completely for them. When I was setting it up through Time Machine it didn't give me the option to make the new one "alpha", instead it just set it up as another computer using my account info. The last time I changed computers and did this it wiped out everything from the cloud when I erased my old one. How do I wipe it out without erasing everything off of my new one through the cloud?
