5G Auto vs 5G On Cellular Setting

I find that the "5G Auto" setting is causing my phone to drop calls and completely go dark (no service) in areas that I previously had good LTE coverage. The auto function isn't properly switching between LTE and 5G. I updated my cellular settings to "5G On" and I see that the network is properly moving between LTE and 5G. Based on what I've read, the "5G Auto" setting should behave this way, but it's not. Anyone else having this problem? Verizon network with iPhone 12 Pro (1 week old).

Iphone 13 Max Pro 5G to 4G switching issue My Iphone 13 Max pro in China is having issue when switching from 5G to 4G. It is happening regulargly. I normally have a call over facetime and i know for sure the it stop during the time of switching. sometime this switching can cause no network signal and it can last between 1 min to 5 min. Can you tell me why it is like this?
