How do I know when my iPhone 4 is using my wifi & not the cellular data?
I just got the iPhone 4 and I have been playing around with it at home over the wifi... or at least I think it was over the wifi! I set it up for wifi and all, but how do I know for sure that I'm not actually on the cellular network????
What solutions are there to ensure that when I'm using my iPhone 4 in wifi zone (home, at a starbucks, etc) that I'm actually using wifi and not the cellular network for browsing, maps, email, etc?
That's a really good question, and the subject of a long-running thread. No one knows for sure. It might be data sent by apps, it can also be incoming email if you have Push or Fetch enabled. It is reported as "sent" on the bill but is actually bidirectional. You can turn of cellular data in Settings overnight, but I've found that the transfer happens anyway when you turn it back on.
