I recently upgraded my phone, but apple wallet won't let you transfer cards from old to new and because I had the card on my old phone, the physical card is no longer active (and thus won't allow transfer). How do I get the card into apple wallet in my new phone?

On the NEW phone, when you hit Add (+), you do NOT immediately see the right button. You have to wait a bit (there's a subtle spinning daisy wheel up top) and then suddenly "Previous Cards" appears out of nowhere. That allowed me to quickly add the Clipper Card I had deleted from my old phone.
Thank you! This worked. I tried adding my old card (now inactive as it was in my old iPhone) and it wouldn't load saying card was "inactive." Once I removed the card from my old phone, it automatically showed up in my new phone. DONE! Thanks so much for this post.
I filed an IT request with clipper and they haven’t gotten back in over a week (despite a claim of a two business day turn around). Time to wait on hold for 30 min again. Will probably just pay the $5 and give up on using wallet for my clipper card at all for all the pain it’s caused. The few times I did use it it was tricky to get it to register anyhow, especially with masks and Face ID.
I just did this as well, and no, I didn’t need to scan the physical card. Once I deleted the Clipper Card on my old iPhone, it showed up when trying to add a Clipper Card on my new iPhone.
Apple isn’t here.

Did it ask you to scan the physical card? I don't have the physical card since I opened a new clipper card on my apple wallet from my old phone. Now I don't even have the physical card to scan
If the old phone is traded, how did you remove the card from the online portal ? The old device is no longer part of my AppleID
I can confirm that just deleting the card from your old phone will work. To add, I did not have to wait to add it to the new phone. It worked immediately.
Clipper said they’d charge $5 to deactivate my old card and send me a new one.
Thanks so much. I overlooked this option. I do not have access to my iPhone as I already erased it and passed it along to a family member. So I thought I was SOL.
