Facetime doesn't have camera option on MacBook Pro

Hello,

My new MacBook Pro has Facetime, and yes, my camera is working and I've already turned off Facetime, rebooted, etc., but when I call up the app, it only shows a phone icon next to my contacts and not a video icon. I can receive Facetime calls but it crashed last night multiple times so I just finished the call on my phone. When I go into Security & Privacy and look at Camera there, the only option it gives me to access my camera is Zoom, which works fine. There is no option for Facetime, and I can't find a way to enter it as an option. I don't want to lose Zoom; I use it regularly for work, but Facetime is how we communicate as a family. Please advise how to fix this problem. Thanks!

Hi Jwantstoknow,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities. We understand the camera is not working in FaceTime.

From what you've shared, it sounds like you've already taken some great steps. Let's also complete these additional steps:

"If your camera or microphone doesn’t work

One of these solutions might help:

  • Quit FaceTime, then open FaceTime again.
  • Restart your Mac (Apple menu > Restart).
  • Make sure that FaceTime isn't open, then see if your camera works in another application, such as Photo Booth. If it doesn't, you know that the issue isn't related to FaceTime.
  • If you have multiple cameras or microphones connected to your Mac, check the Video menu in the FaceTime menu bar to make sure that you have the correct camera and microphone selected."

As seen here: If FaceTime isn't working on your Mac

Cheers!
