After data transfer to new iMac my pictures are missing.

This is much too vague to give you a correct answer but I'll make some assumptions and try to point you in the right direction. I'm going to assume you used migration assistant to transfer your data to your new iMac (congratulations btw). I would try logging out and logging back in as the guest user and searching for your photos. Apparently this has happened to others as per https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250925577.

Thanks for your timely reply. I did use migration assistant to transfer my data. I use Ethernet connections on all my machines and the migration assistant connected to the new Mac through my router. I had wanted to use the direct Ethernet link but the migration assistant went smoothly through the router. When all was done, I ended up with three users on screen at the Mac. Only one had everything except my pics. I am thinking of re-transferring, using the direct Ethernet linkage, to try and clear up some of the muddle on the Mac and maybe get my pics over to the Mac. I have used PC products for many years and even have built three of those type machines.
