Is this something I should be concerned about NOW or worry about down the road. Don't even know what extension it is. With my most recent update I'm told there is an extension that may not be good in future updates. Don't know what extension or who the independent provider is. Should I be concerned at this point? How do I find out what this extension does?

I have never heard of Apple doing that. If you want to try:
