Hi gooberlily,

We see you have some issues with restoring your device to factory settings, and we'd like to help out.

First, ensure you're using these steps for the process: If you forgot the passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is disabled

After clicking restore, you should see an indicator for the download of the new copy of iOS it'll be installing. For Windows version of iTunes, or older macOS versions, this will show in the upper-right of the window as a small downward pointing arrow. Clicking that should show the progress of the download. If you use a newer macOS version, and are in Finder for the process, then the indicator will be represented as a spinning circle next to your iPhone in Finder's sidebar.

If this takes more than 15 minutes to download, the iPhone exits recovery mode. You'll then need to complete the steps again from the above link, starting from the beginning.

Take care!
