Family sharing and Apple Music

I’m on a student subscription on Apple Music. After my subscription expired, I didn’t renew it and I was added to a family sharing. I was granted assess to Apple Music so I canceled my student subscription. A day later, I lost all my playlists and assess to Apple Music. Why can’t I assess my Apple music with the family sharing?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!


If we understand your post correctly, you had an Apple Music Student subscription but canceled it and now you're on a Family Sharing for Apple Music but you've lost all your playlists and can't access any of the music you had. We're happy to help!


When you cancel your Apple Music subscription the music you downloaded will become greyed out and will not play for 30 days. If you sign back up during that 30 day period they will become active again. After 30 days they will disappear. The songs that you purchased will not be greyed out and will remain and can be played at any time.


You can also check to ensure that iCloud Music Library is turned on: Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music


If Sync Library was turned off and after enabling it your songs are still missing then check out this article: If songs are missing from your music library after you turn on Sync Library
