iPhone 12 Pro Max: Screen Protector Too Small

Hi.

Today I waited in line for a while to get into a local Apple store to have them attach one of their screen protectors on my phone. Later on I realized the screen protector is noticeably smaller on all sided than the actual screen of the phone. Can anyone verify that the ones Apple installs are in fact smaller than the screen? Could the technician have used the protector for the wrong phone?
