Maximum rows in Numbers 4.3.1

A tool I'm working on writes a CSV file with 35,2884 rows. Importing this into Numbers 4.3.1 seems to omit most of the rows. I can't actually tell how many rows there are because the row number is squeezed into such a small font I can't quite read it:

The "Add Row Above" and "Add Row Below" actions and menu items are greyed out:

There are no filters. Have I exceeded a maximum number of rows?

352,288 is far beyond the maximum number of rows in a table in Numbers.

The screen shot of the last row of your table shows you are at row 65,535 which is the maximum number of rows in a Table for Numbers 4.3 (and for several more recent versions).

You might be able to split your CSV file into smaller files, then use multiple tables to hold and display the data in Numbers, but I suspect that you'll find the document to be 'sluggish,' to say the least.

The most recent versions of Numbers upped the column and row limits of tables significantly, but will require at least an upgrade of your operating system to run on your Mac.

Barry

Thanks, I appreciate the info. It would have been nice if Numbers gave a warning when reading a CSV file that exceeds the maximum number of rows. And I've always been annoyed at apps that silently grey-out items; the app should provide an explanation for why something isn't available.

I was able to import the CSV into Excel for Office 2011.
