It’s an unfortunate fact that licensed software comes with no warranty and no promise of continued support. Companies or private developers can abandon their software products whenever they wish and leave users behind. Software licenses simply offer the software “as is” and “as available”.
If the developer of the app your using has discontinued distribution or stopped supporting that app, you can contact them and ask for assistance. But if they don’t respond, there is little to nothing you can do.

Apple doesn't have any access to the data in an app the developer no longer supports. You're right. It's not fair, but you have to air your grievance with the developer if you can contact the developer. They have your data.
