Finder will not Launch or Relaunch on my iMac and now I cannot use Shut Down to power off.
iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.15
If it is froze up and will not respond, hold the power button for 10 seconds or until it shuts off. Wait for a few seconds and then press the power button to start it up.

Yeah' it doesn't hurt in a pinch. Besides is not really any different than experiencing a lights out power failure when the iMac is on.
If you are having and/or continue to have a problem with beach balling, sluggishness or freezing? Then it could be early signs of a more serious problem. If so, then it would be a good idea to run EtreCheckPro on your Mac and post back here with that Report. https://etrecheck.com
I didn't want to have to power down that way, but I did and Finder is no longer frozen. Thank you for your help!
