What are you seeing on screen? Is it showing an Apple Logo when you try to power it on?

This typically means the update was unable to install, so the iPhone does not have an operating system. This is best resolved in recovery mode using a computer.

You can try to update the iPhone using this method, which will install the latest version of iOS. If this is unsuccessful, it may prompt you to restore the iPhone. This will erase your iPhone, but you will be able to sign into iCloud and restore from backup.
