Apple CarPlay Music Volume During Navigation

I have a 2020 Kia Niro with an up to date iPhone 12 Pro. While I was using Google Maps with CarPlay, I noticed the volume for music doesn’t adjust when navigation is on. This seems like a bug as you can adjust the music volume when your using navigation on Bluetooth.

If I turn the radio off then on, I can control the music. This is a dangerous issue as it takes the driver’s focus off the road and put it on to trying to adjust the radio.
