I sent my MacBook pro for service. Battery was bad and was replaced. It came back in it original OS which was Mavericks. Over the years I had kept it updated and was to the latest OS. What can I do to get it farther than Mavericks.

A mid-2010 through late-2011 MacBook Pro can be upgraded to High Sierra 10.13.6 but no later version.

You should be able to update it again. Or simply restore from the backup you made before sending it in. Or, just check for updates and download them. Apple does warn you to make a backup and that the drive may need to be wiped.
