I bought AppleCare for my AirPod pros but they were a gift and I don't have the receipt

In order to use AppleCare do I need the purchase receipt?

AppleCare+ Hello, Apple Community, Just wondering whether Apple is going to send something if we bought Applecare+? I bought AppleCare+ for my iPad yesterday but received a receipt as well that says "We’ll let you know when your items are on their way." But is this just a receipt of AppleCare+ as there is "Ships: Automatically registered" and I received the proof of AppleCare+ coverage? Thanks and God bless!!

Do you have the receipt for your purchase of AppleCare +? The plan is tied to the device so you should be fine without the receipt.
