Wallet & Apple Pay, Apple Watch and notifications

I have used Apple Pay on my iPhone 7 (iOS 14.5.1) in shops many times with much success and great enjoyment. When I use Apple Pay on the phone I get a Wallet notification of the most recent transaction that shows the vendor and the amount of the transaction.

But when I use Apple Pay with my Apple Watch (Model NJ2X2LL/A, Watch OS 4.3.2 cannot upgrade further) and while the transaction completes successfully, no such notification is discoverable on the phone or the watch. Wallet on the watch shows no record of any transaction. Wallet on the phone do not show transactions made with the watch either!

I changed the notification setting in the Apple Watch settings (under Wallet & Apple Pay) that lets you select "custom" (instead of "mirror iPhone") and I selected the option "show alerts", but that didn't change anything concerning what happens when payments are completed with the watch.

Is there any way to get a transaction summary "from" or "for" the watch? The transaction did go through and did post to my account, but I wonder if there is any indication of the transaction on the watch.

At the present the transactions completed on the watch do not show up anywhere but on my online banking account.

Yes that could be a limitation of that particular watchOS. In the current version, you can view the transaction history in the Watch app on the iPhone, under Wallet & Apple Pay. Tap a payment card and then the Transactions tab on the right.

There is also usually a statement there that the financial institution should be contact for a full statemwent across all Apple Pay devices that you may have in use.

Indeed. I found this earlier thread stating that it was not provided in November 2017.

One could perhaps check through the later release notes and find out when that support was added. Anyways, it's a kind of moot point now.

I'm curious how is the battery life on that first model lasting for you? Should maybe get one from second hand sales - as a collector item :)

I'm sorry but this reply is not relevant.

1/ I have found records of this issue dated 2015 and later.

2/ my Watch app on the phone is up to date

3/ transactions made with the apple watch have always been supposed to show up in the Wallet (on the phone)

I do not believe it is a limitation of Watch OS 4 unless I see a proof of that.

Yes sure, you might well be correct there. I was only speculating that might be the case since this functionality works fine with the current version. Unfortunately I dont have the original watch to test this directly.

Just to clarify, are you saying that the Transactions tab is there, but no actual card data is available? Something remotely similar to this:

In that case I recommend contacting Support about it.

Thank you for your swift reply.

In the Wallet app on the iPhone, some transactions are shown but there is no Transactions tab in the cards' details.

This is already weird.

(I have multiple credit cards in different banks and they all look like this.)

In the Wallet section of the Watch app, there is no Transactions tab and I can't see any transaction.

In the Wallet app of the Watch, there is no Transactions tab and no transaction shown.

iPhone > Wallet.app

iPhone > Watch.app
