JBL charge 4 Not connecting to my iPhone

I cannot get my iPhone 12 to connect to my JBL Charge 4. I tried all the different buttons in different combinations, but my speaker is not connecting. It doesn't even show up as discoverable. I just updated this morning to the latest iOS update. Now what?

Hi AmazonX,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities! We'd love to help in any way we can with your iPhone and speaker, or will be sure to point you in the right direction.

To start, let us know if you've had an opportunity to restart both devices before attempting again to pair them.

Also, what's the version of iOS installed on your iPhone 12? This can be found under Settings > General > About.

If it's not updated to iOS 14.6, we can recommend backing up your data, then updating. The following guide has steps to help:

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

We'd also like to share this article with troubleshooting steps when pairing a Bluetooth device:

If you can't connect a Bluetooth accessory to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Is your iPhone able to pair with any other Bluetooth devices, as a test? We want to be sure to mention that if you should continue to experience issues and it's isolated to your JBL speaker, it may be necessary contact JBL directly at that point.

Have a great day!

Hi AmazonX,

It's certainly understood where you're coming from. As this issue is only occurring between iPhone 12 and your speaker after the update, but other Bluetooth devices and iPhone are working as expected, it indicates some further troubleshooting may be required on the speaker itself.

It may be as simple as putting the speaker back into a special pairing mode. While this process varies by device, it is often initiated by holding down the power button button when turning on the device, or a special Bluetooth button. We do recommend reaching out to JBL for precise instructions at this point, or visiting their website for JBL Charge 4 here:

Hi AmazonX,

Thanks so much for clarifying. In that case, as your iPhone is working with other devices, and the issue is also occurring on another iPhone 12, this helps to isolate the issue to JBL speaker itself.

You'll want to reach out to JBL directly at this point to inquire further. There may be some special steps to reset the speaker or update its firmware, so that it can operate as expected.

Take care!
