Phone finder
I just got a new Apple Watch last week and I went to use the phone finder button and it. But I pressed it and I didn’t go off. Why is that? How can I fix that?

You mean you are not able to ping your iPhone from your watch, by swiping up? Do you see your phone icon active there top left?
In any case, make sure the pairing was completed and that the connection between them is active:
