so I just tried to do an update, and it said 29 minutes remaining.... then black screen, and making this weird repetitive almost sounds like CD skip/scratching noise and will not turn on... what do I do? I can’t afford to pay money to get it fixed

Force Shutdown by Power Button / Touch ID ( same button ). Disconnect all external Drives and connect to charger. Restart in Safe Mode and this may or may not allow the process to finish successfully.
