A1243 keyboard doesn't work with M1 Mac Mini after upgrade to 11.4
I've been using an apple keyboard model A1243 with my M1 mac mini. It has worked fine through multiple Big Sur updates.
Last night I updated to 11.4 and that keyboard no longer works. I've got an old M7803 "Pro" apple keyboard that does work.
Questions:
- Why does one apple USB keyboard work and not another?
- What is different between the A and M model keyboards?
- Why did the 11.4 update break the ability to use the A1243 keyboard
- 4. Has anyone else experienced this problem and have a solution?
This seems like a big problem, Apple. If a user has been using a keyboard that has been working fine, and an update breaks the functionality of the keyboard or changes the properties in some way of the USB connection, the user is functionally dead in the water. And, it was only by luck I had a spare keyboard around that I could use to test.
Based on my experience people might want to hold off on this update if they have a M11 Mac Mini until this issue is resolved.
I hope Apple read this and responds and more importantly fixes the problem. A user should be able to expect that apple input devices will work reliably with apple computers.
